Every year at the awards ceremony one student from each pathway is honored with the Spirit of the Phoenix Award. This award is given to a student who has excelled in one or more of the following areas: academics, work ethic, or overall citizenship. In most instances this student is also a completer, which means they have successfully completed all requirements for the program.
Starting today we would like to introduce you to our 17 Spirit of the Phoenix Award recipients for the 2023-2024 school year. Be sure to check back each day to see more of these deserving students!

Last night was all about our students! This amazing group of students included honorees for student of the year in each class, completers in all 17 pathways, work-based learning, and principal's choice award recipients! Stay tuned over the coming days and weeks for more content from awards night! Congratulations to all who were recognized for their outstanding work and achievements! We are proud of each of you!
Preparations are underway for the Career Center Awards Ceremony tonight! Teachers and staff have been hard at work all day making sure every detail is perfect for tonight!
Beginning this summer, LCSD will phase out our current email/call communication system, Blackboard Connect. It will be replaced with Apptegy Alerts. Be on the lookout for communication from this new system and do not "delete" or "unsubscribe." Remember, this communication is from the school and the district, and lots of important information is shared through this email/call system. We want to ensure you get updates this summer regarding information for the start of the 2024-2025 school year! Text messages will be received from 98900. Skills learned in Career Center classes give students the opportunity to make original creations. A student in the Machine Tool Program made this ring for his mom for Mother's Day!
For the final day of Teacher Appreciation Week our teachers enjoyed pizza and salad for lunch provided by two generous community members. Pelican's was also onsite for the teachers to enjoy thanks to the generosity of The Stover Legacy Foundation.

Today our teachers were treated to a catered meal from Adela's as part of Teacher Appreciation Week!
The treats keep coming....teachers had 2 options for lunch today...sandwich trays provided by Food Lion or David Dawgs!

Health Science 2 students learned about donning and doffing PPE this week.
Cosmetology students were invited to attend a color theory experience presented by Matrix educator Mickie at Mane Street Hair Designers earlier this week. Debbie Crenshaw, owner of Mane Street Hair Designers, has been a salon in the community for over 40 years (1981) and aided in helping many cosmetologists gain success in there careers after school. She is a product of the Career Center and says:
“I am thankful for the Career Center. Best decision I made and I have gotten many of great stylist that have become successful stylists - salon owners”.
