Help us welcome Mr. Blake Myers to the Erwin family! He will be joining our 4th grade team as the Science and Social Studies teacher. Here is a message from Mr. Meyers: My name is Blake Myers and I’m originally from Troutville, VA. My wife and I just recently moved to the Indian Trail, NC area and we are loving it. I graduated from Liberty University with a bachelors degree in Business Administration and I received my Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Covenant College this past May! I was fortunate and blessed to be able to play soccer at both Liberty and Covenant. This will be my second year teaching, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to do so at Erwin Elementary. I am looking forward to building some great relationships and becoming a part of such an amazing community!

We are excited to welcome yet another new member to the Erwin team! Mrs. Tina Sanders will be joining us as a 2nd grade teacher this year. Here is a message from Mrs. Sanders:
My name is Tina Sanders. I am married with three boys. They are 19, 2 years, and the youngest is 5 months old. This will be my fifth year working in education, and my first year in my own classroom. I graduated last year from Grand Canyon University with a dual bachelors in elementary education and special education. My favorite place to vacation is in the mountains with my family. I enjoy working on craft projects and I attend regular services at my church, where I work within the Children’s Ministry and am on the woman’s board. I am excited to share this year with my new 2nd graders and can’t wait to get to know each one.

It’s time to introduce another new Bear! Mrs. Brittany Finucane has been a part of the Erwin Family as a parent, and will now be joining as a teacher too! She will be joining our 3rd grade team this year. Here is a message from Mrs. Finucane:
Greetings! I am Mrs. Finucane and I will be teaching 3rd grade at Erwin Elementary. I have my Masters degree in elementary education. I have been teaching 3rd grade for 4 years now. I love taking on new adventures and I am ecstatic to take on this new adventure with my Erwin family.

4th grade students designed and created their own soda can labels in art. We might have a few graphic designers on our hands!

Second grade has been learning about Dr. King and the great work he did for all people. Students in Mrs. Featherstone's class created a Peace Tree. They wrote and created drawings of how they would carry on his dream of living in a peaceful world.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, Lancaster County School District has designated Tuesday, January 9, 2024, as an E-Learning Day for all schools and offices. There will not be any afterschool activities on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Again, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, will be an E-Learning Day for all employees and students. This is over safety concerns of the potential for severe weather in our area. Based on weather guidance, we could experience heavy rainfall, flash flooding, damaging winds, and the possibility of tornadoes. The latest weather predictions show parts of our county getting winds of up to 30 mph with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph. If this comes to fruition, we will face dangers operating school buses and in transportation in general. We will continue to monitor the weather and take any necessary safety precautions as warranted to keep our students safe. For more specifics for your student, your student’s teacher and school will send more information. This early notice will allow everyone to make the necessary arrangements for tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the weather, and we will keep you informed through Remind texts and the district website. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. As always, keeping our students and staff safe is our number one priority.
